Friday, September 2, 1898   

Very hot. Emma, Florence and I called on Mrs. John Miller – found her niece of Brooklyn staying there, Miss Reynolds. We drove around through the village to bring Susie and Geo. home. Grandma is not feeling well. P. Em, and papa want to a social tonight. Thunder-showers.

Sunday, September 4, 1898  

Very hot. Grandma’s letter from the M.E. ch. has been read and she was rec’d into our ch. today. Prescott could not go to ch. – trouble with his stomach – lameness. Thunder showers again no one went to ch. this eve.

Monday, September 5, 1898  

I have not done any work today.

Arthur called a few moments – Labor Day so Geo. & Susie are at home.

Tuesday, September 6, 1898  

Very warm.

Mrs. Sanderson Mrs. Beers and Evalena & Fred. S. came this P.M. also the Porter girls to see Emma – and Mrs. Waite and Elsie called a few moments.

Frank went to New Haven this morn to sell apples and pears.

We made crab-apple jell.

Friday, September 9, 1898  

Cooler since Wed. eve. Frank came yesterday noon. Heavy thunder-showers all day Wed.

Canned grapes and made grape jell.

Aunt Susan and Mrs. Avery called this P.M. I am making a waist out of my light sateen skirt.

Sunday, September 11, 1898  

Edw. P. T. was 36 yrs. old today.

Wednesday, September 14, 1898   

Edw. and family arrived here about 2 o’c. They drove up from Springfield. Left there at 8 o’c. Fred did not come.

Thursday, September 15, 1898   

Spent day visiting. They intend to take a carriage ride somewhere every pleasant day.

Sunday, September 18, 1898      

Cloudy – 11 people went from here to ch. Edw. Emma, Henry, Prescott, & Frank went at night. Fred came this eve. Arthur did not come up here as he is obliged to return in the morning. He could not get his vacation at this time.

Monday, September 19, 1898  

We washed. Edw. & Nettie and Willie drove to Hatfield and come home through No. Hampton. Aunt Susan spent Sun. in Greenfield.

Had a hat trimmed for E. into “Bon Marche’s.”

Geo. did not go to school.

Tuesday, September 20, 1898  

Smoky and cool. Ed’s family, Aunt S. & Uncle Barrus, Mrs. Ball & Grace went with Emma, Henry, Susie, Geo. Florence & I over to Whately Glen. We took our dinner and stayed until nearly three o’c. Had a fine time. Edw. takes pictures of places he visits.

Wednesday, September 21, 1898  

Beautiful day. Folks went home this morn. Fred & Ruth went with Grandma in the P.M. They went on the cars.

Sunday, September 25, 1898

Grandma came up from Springfield this morn and went into ch. and surprised the children.

Frank and Prescott have not worked much since Thurs. F. went to see the Dr. this P.M. Diarrhea has troubled him considerable lately.

Friday, September 30, 1898   

Grandma went to Northampton with Mrs. Hawks’. Stopped at Mrs. DeMartin’s and tried on silk dress waist. I drove down after her at night. I have washed my black dress & Emma’s gray one.

Florence has been having bowel trouble this week.

Mrs. Whitman of Boston is with Aunt Susan.
